Guitar Youth Orchestra Spring 2024

Guitar New Mexico’s premier guitar orchestra is starting it’s Spring 2024 session! The session will begin on Wednesday, January 24th, at Del Norte High School in orchestra room 105. The parents’ meeting will be from 7-7:30 and the rehearsal will be from 7:30-9pm. The meeting agenda will be to go over the newly-revised handbook, outline of rehearsal and scheduled concerts, and to introduce our new co-conductor Miguel Jaramillo.

Please contact GuitarNewMexico@gmail.com for specific entry requirements. Youth ensembles have two sessions each academic year, and occasional summer performances. The fee is $100 per semester or $180 for the entire year. Installment plans and tuition assistance are available.

Guitar New Mexico provides scholarships for students, honorariums for educators,

schools, community centers, and other venues throughout New Mexico.

Youth Orchestra (GYO) and

The Guitar New Mexico Youth Guitar Orchestra and Youth Guitar Ensemble are the premier musical ensembles for young classical guitarists in Central New Mexico.

The Advanced Orchestra is comprised of intermediate-advanced guitarists ages 13-19, or until 45 days after high school graduation, whichever comes first. (Students 19+ may join our adult ensemble).

The Youth Ensemble is for students aged 10*-13 who have a post-beginner to intermediate proficiency on guitar. (Students under 11 must interview with the ensemble conductors before acceptance).

Rehearsals: Every Wednesday, 7:30-9:00pm.
Note: because our ensembles are comprised of students from different school districts, we do not follow individual school calendar(s).

Guitar Chamber Players

The Guitar Chamber Players is an ensemble group for guitar players of various backgrounds, from adult amateurs to professional guitarists and teachers. It is open to guitarists aged 18+. (Caregivers, guardians, and adaptive assistants must also be at least 18 years of age).

Designed for the adult guitarist, ensemble skill levels range from post-beginner to professional. An emphasis on musicianship and skill development, in addition to performance, makes this a unique opportunity for the adult musician.

$250 per semester or $450 for full year if paid by October 15


 

ArtReach & Education

Artist in Residence Program
Throughout the year, Guitar New Mexico brings world renowned guitar performances to local venues and brings those guitarists to perform and teach in our schools.

Community Concerts

Guitar New Mexico sponsors 8-10 community concerts throughout the state each year. Performers include our own guitar ensembles, and other guitarists and musicians from within New Mexico. Please see our Community Concerts page for a complete schedule.
