The New Mexico Classical Guitar Festival is open to classical guitarists ranging in age from middle school to adult and skill level from beginner to professional. Students participate in four days of intensive instruction, practicing, and performing.
Tuition is charged for the Festival, however scholarships and honorariums are
available from Guitar New Mexico for participants needing financial assistance.
Activities for Festival Participants: The Festival provides a variety of activities designed
to help participants advance their classical guitar knowledge and skills.

Festival Showcase –The Festival’s Sunday afternoon concert also
includes a student showcase of performances by select students participating in the
Festival. Students may apply for inclusion in the student showcase by
submitting a recording of a solo or ensemble performance. Members of the
Guitar New Mexico Board select students for the showcase based upon the
at 2017 Festival: This activity will be offered for the first time at the 2017 Festival. It will feature learning, practice, and performance opportunities appropriate for middle school students who are just beginning to play the guitar.They will have an opportunity to learn proper guitar technique and develop their musicianship through ensemble playing, rhythmic exercises, and other musical activities.
