World Renowned Flamenco Guitarist, Grisha Goryachev, to Perform at Local
New Mexico Schools, February 10-14, 2020

Albuquerque, New Mexico, January 26, 2020 – New Mexico students have the opportunity to meet world renowned Russian Flamenco guitarist, Grisha Goryachev, and hear him perform traditional flamenco musical selections during February 10-14. Mr. Goryachev will visit schools in Los Lunas, Moriarty, Santa Fe and Albuquerque.   Goryachev will share his superb talents and his unique personal history with aspiring guitarists.  Guitar New Mexico implemented an Artist in Residence program to help reach out to youth seldom served by this unique art form, with the goal of motivating students to explore the guitar more deeply. 

Grisha Goryachev will visit schools located in Santa Fe, Moriarty, Los Lunas and Albuquerque.

Grisha Goryachev is Guitar New Mexico’s artist in residence for 2020.

He is a  native of St. Petersburg, Russia,  and is renowned for his extraordinary technical virtuosity in both classical and flamenco styles. Goryachev began to play the guitar at the age of six, taught by his father Dmitry, a master teacher and player of the classical guitar. He was a child prodigy, performing regularly in the top concert halls of St. Petersburg, Moscow, Minsk, Riga and other cities in the Soviet Union from the age of nine.

Every year Guitar New Mexico brings outstanding guitarists and educators to teach and perform.

Guitar New Mexico is a nonprofit organization that encourages and fosters the study and appreciation of the classical guitar. Guitar New Mexico accomplishes its mission through its four primary programs: The New Mexico Classical Guitar FestivalThis annual festival includes workshops, lectures, master classes, and concert performances. Outreach–Outreach activities include: performances by classical guitarists at high schools, middle schools, and other venues. The Guitar Chamber Players–an adult guitar ensemble assembles for two eight -week sessions per year. The Guitar New Mexico Youth Ensemble–The premier musical ensemble for young classical guitarists from area high schools.
